چکیده

The ac conductance in granular insulating Co-ZrO2 thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition is systematically studied as a function of the Co volume content x. An absorption phenomenon at low frequencies that mimics the universal response of disordered dielectric materials is observed in the range of metal content below the Co percolation threshold xp 0.35 in the so-called dielectric regime. The temperature and frequency dependences of this absorption phenomenon are successfully analyzed in terms of random competing conduction channels between Co particles through thermally assisted tunneling and capacitive conductance. The ac conductance is well correlated with the nanostructure of the samples obtained by the transmission electron microscopy and perfectly matches the calculated ac response for a random resistor-capacitor network. We also show the occurrence of fractional power-law dependences on the frequency of the ac conductance taking place at very low frequencies as compared to the typical ranges at which dispersive behavior is observed in classicaldisordered dielectric materials.

Competing tunneling and capacitive paths in Co-ZrO2 granular thin films

The ac electrical response is studied in thin films composed of well-defined nanometric Co particles embedded in an insulating ZrO2 matrix which tends to coat them, preventing the formation of aggregates. In the dielectric regime, ac transport originates from the competition between interparticle capacitive Cp and tunneling Rt channels, the latter being thermally assisted. This competition yiel...

Universality of the electrical transport in granular metals

The universality of the ac electrical transport in granular metals has been scarcely studied and the actual mechanisms involved in the scaling laws are not well understood. Previous works have reported on the scaling of capacitance and dielectric loss at different temperatures in Co-ZrO2 granular metals. However, the characteristic frequency used to scale the conductivity spectra has not been d...

Symmetrical field effect and slow electron relaxation in granular aluminium

Conductivity and field effect measurements in thin insulating Al granular films are reported. The occurrence of a symmetrical field effect and of very slow conductance relaxations is demonstrated. They are identical to the electron glassy behaviours already reported in insulating indium oxide thin films. The results suggest that the phenomena are quite general. The study of structurally discont...

Direct observation of quantum superconducting fluctuations in an insulating groundstate

We review our recent measurements of the complex AC conductivity of thin InOx films studied as a function of magnetic field through the nominal 2D superconductor-insulator transition. These measurements the first of their type to probe nonzero frequency reveals a significant finite frequency superfluid stiffness well into the insulating regime. Unlike conventional fluctuation superconductivity ...

Fabrication of Nb/V co-doped TiO2 thin films and study of structural, optical and photocatalytic properties

In this study, different samples of Niobium and Vanadium co-doped titania  thin films (5-10-15 mol% Nb and 5-10-15 mol% V) were prepared via sol−gel dip coating method, using niobium chloride as niobium precursor, ammonium metavanadate as vanadium precursor, and titanium (IV) butoxide (TBT) as titanium precursor. The effects of doping amount on the structural, optical, and photo-catalytic prope...
